September 2008
Dear Friends,
As we approach our 25th anniversary year – 2009 – we feel so fortunate for the success of our Heroes Society annual campaign. Over the past two years, Heroes Society gifts alone have allowed Child Advocates, Inc. to provide the services of a court appointed advocate volunteer to 90 abused, neglected and abandoned children in State custody.
“True heroism … is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost,
but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.”
-Arthur Ashe
By that measure, we can say that we – each and every one of us involved with Child Advocates in some capacity – are indeed heroes. I sincerely thank you for your past support and truly appreciate all that you do for this organization.
But to ensure that we will be able to help every abused and neglected child who may someday desperately need a court appointed advocate – we can’t stop now. For this reason, I ask you to join us in building Child Advocates’ legacy by becoming a member of the 2008 Heroes Society. View
our Heroes Society members from previous years.
We couldn’t serve the children we do without you, so if you only give one time this year, I urge you to make that gift to this annual campaign.
Aside from the cost of postage, stock and envelopes required for this letter, there are no expenses associated with this campaign – every cent of the monies raised will go directly to serving children. Perhaps most importantly, this effort gives each one of us the opportunity to be a part of the future of Child Advocates.
We plan to serve 1,775 children by year-end – a number we’re extremely proud of. Unfortunately, there will still be nearly 3,000 children we cannot serve with our current resources.
Our vision is to provide a court appointed advocate to every abused child in Harris County that needs us. I ask today for your renewed investment in that vision –– and promise in return, our collective legacy for the future.
Warm regards,
