When volunteer Dave Cooney retired from his career, he began to volunteer for Child Advocates. In his nearly 12 years of service he helped guide 34 children to safe and healthy environments, including complex cases such as those with several children or those involving special needs children. He also went above and beyond for the children he served, such as arranging meetups with colleagues to serve as potential role models, and even arranging for a book to be dedicated to one child. During his time serving a little girl with cerebral palsy, he met with experts in the area and attended support group meetings to better understand her needs. Though Dave has retired from being an advocate, his dedication continues to impress everyone at Child Advocates as he continues to work with committees.
Dave was our Outstanding Volunteer of the Year in 2012.
