Book party

It wasn't your typical book party with a famed author doing readings and signing endless autographs for adoring fans, but there was a crowd of ardent supporters at the Memorial home of Ellie and Jack Sweeney Thursday night for a special book celebration.

Child Advocates Inc. celebrated the success of its hardcover book Just for Now: Kids and the People of the Court, a fictional tale that explains the process for youngsters who are making their way through the court system. Foster care, legal issues, custody and court-appointed special advocates are explained in the story of two children removed from their home by Child Protective Services.

Among guests were project coordinators, funders and contributors including Jackie Crowley, Barbara Abell, Child Advocates CEO Sonya Galvan, board chair Milton West, Susan Silvus, Caroline and Bill Sabin, Mary Grace and Michael Landrum, Sonja and Charles Novo and Bernie and Ed Powell.
