SOCIAL CALENDAR

It's time to fall into action

By SHELBY HODGE
Houston Chronicle

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. Another social season and another round of fund-raising parties are upon us. Shift into high gear, because the coming three months have plenty to offer whether your tastes run to black-tie blockbuster events or to more casual and intimate evenings.

Here is an overview of many of the charitable fund-raisers booked from now to mid-December. Every weekend is studded with black-tie galas, theme parties, award dinners and the like. Each is an opportunity to give while playing and to play while giving.
