JENNIFER JORDAN
What is your role within YPC, and how long have you been involved? I am a first-year member. I signed up in the fall of 2008.
How did you become involved in Child Advocates and YPC? I’m relatively new to the Houston area and was looking for an outlet to meet new people and also serve the community. When I came across Child Advocates and YPC’s mission of stopping the cycle of child abuse, I knew I wanted to be a part of the organization to help serve such a worthy cause. Even with my very busy work and home life, YPC’s activities and volunteer events fit into my schedule!
What has been your highlight with YPC? Making new friends while serving such a worthy cause seems to be enough to keep me coming back to the YPC events. Although the major highlights of my experience as a member have come during the volunteer events with the children. Watching them participate in activities, learn new things from the YPC events and members, and play; all with the biggest smiles on their faces is such a wonderful experience! In fact, at my last event, I had such a good time that I forgot that I was even volunteering!
What's life like outside of Child Advocates? I’m a Commercial Real Estate Advisor with Studley, Inc., specializing in consulting and representing tenants in their needs for corporate office space. I’m happily married to Bryan Jordan and have a 5 year old step daughter. I really enjoy singing, playing the piano, cooking (or really watching my husband do it) and tasting new wine (big heavy cabs!). The newest venture I’ve taken up is tennis, although I’m still in desperate need of more lessons!
What is something unique about you that others might not know? Something thing interesting hmm…. I studied opera for many years and sang coloratura soprano.
