LETICIA BAILEY
Court Appointed Advocate since: 2006
How did you decide to become a Child Advocate volunteer? I wanted to impact the lives of children. I found out about Child Advocates around 2000, but waited until my daughter went away to college so I could commit the time and energy necessary.
Your most memorable experience as a court appointed advocate
... I can't point to a single event, however, I am always awed by the dedication of the Child Advocates staff to the children, the volunteers and goals, mission and vision of the organization.
What is your life like outside of volunteering with Child Advocates?
I work for an industrial gas company. I travel quite a bit throughout the US and Canada ensuring that people who live and work near our pipelines know what steps to take to be safe. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and family of friends. Cooking, reading and planning events are some of my favorite things to do.
Tips you’d give to people who are interested in volunteering
for Child Advocates, but haven’t yet made the commitment. The reward you get knowing you have helped a child in need far outweighs the hard work and time commitment!
