Back-to-School Morning to Remember: Childspree 2025

This past Saturday, six Target stores across Houston opened their doors extra early as hundreds of children served by Child Advocates lined up to shop for back-to-school clothes and essentials. Volunteers were paired one-on-one with children as personal shoppers, helping them select brand-new uniforms, clothing, shoes, and accessories to start the school year with confidence.

For many of the children, this was their first time receiving new items or having the opportunity to choose clothes for themselves, making the morning especially exciting and meaningful. Four siblings, currently living in different placements, were able to reunite for the day and shop together. One of the siblings said, "This is the best day ever!" after seeing their siblings and receiving brand-new clothes.

Once shopping bags were full, each child received a backpack stocked with school supplies for the year ahead. The joy and smiles on their faces made the early morning hours more than worthwhile.

We are so grateful to our amazing sponsors who made this heartwarming morning possible: CenterPoint Energy Foundation, Houston Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, Junior League of Houston, Partners, Spark Energy and Target.

Thank you to all volunteers, sponsors and community partners for making Childspree 2025 a success.
