Through Every Change: One Volunteer's Commitment to Children in Crisis

At Child Advocates, we often talk about the power of one caring adult. Our newest video, Through Every Change, brings that truth to life through the remarkable story of volunteer advocate Kalsey and the four siblings whose lives were forever changed by her steadfast support.

The video follows Kalsey's journey alongside a sibling group that entered foster care after experiencing unimaginable tragedy. Following the death of a sibling and reported abuse and neglect, four young children, all under the age of six, were removed from their home and thrust into an uncertain future.

As a court-appointed advocate, Kalsey became one consistent presence in the children's lives during a time marked by constant change. Through countless meetings, court hearings, visits, phone calls, and difficult conversations, she worked to ensure their needs remained at the center of every decision being made on their behalf.

Through Every Change offers a powerful glimpse into the realities faced by children in foster care and the dedication required of those who advocate for them.

Over the years, Kalsey witnessed the children's growth and healing as they began to experience the safety and support they deserved. She helped navigate complex family dynamics, advocated for their best interests, and remained focused on a singular goal: helping each child find a permanent, loving home with family members who could provide the stability they needed.

Her story demonstrates what makes our volunteer advocates so extraordinary. When children experience trauma, healing does not happen overnight. It is a reminder that meaningful change takes time, commitment, and a community willing to invest in children who need support the most.

Today, the children Kalsey served are thriving because someone was willing to stand beside them through the most difficult chapter of their lives.

Stories like this remind us that behind every successful outcome is a network of people who care deeply about the wellbeing of vulnerable children. They also remind us that there are still hundreds of children in our community waiting for an advocate of their own.
